Know what to build, buy or keep, and why.

We look at the software you pay for and how your team really uses it, then tell you what to keep, what to replace and what to build first.

Signs you need this

It's for owners who get pitched a new tool every month and want a straight answer from someone who isn't selling one.

  • Your team works around the software

You bought a system to fix a problem, and your team still keeps a spreadsheet next to it to get the job done.

  • Every vendor says theirs is the answer

Each salesperson says their product will sort everything out, and you have no fair way to compare what each one would really cost you.

  • Someone asked how you handle data

A client, insurer or regulator wants to know who can see your customers' information, and the honest answer is that you're not sure.

A man reads through papers at his desk while a colleague holding a laptop looks on.

What this covers

  • Technology assessments

A clear look at the systems you pay for, what each one costs and whether it is earning its keep.

  • Build, buy or keep decisions

An independent view on whether to build something, buy a product or leave things as they are.

  • Technology roadmaps

A plan that puts the work in order of value, with a scope and cost for the first step.

  • Governance, risk and controls

Rules for who can do what, approval steps for anything important, and a record of what each system did.

  • Data and technology policies

Short, plain policies your staff can follow when they use data and new tools.

  • Vendor selection

Help choosing between suppliers when you are being sold something and want a second opinion.

What you get

  • A list of every system you pay for and its cost
  • A clear call on each one: keep, replace or build
  • A first step with its own scope and cost, ready to start
  • Access rules and a short policy your staff will follow

How the project runs

  1. We review what you have

We list the systems you pay for and what each one costs, then sit with the people who use them to see where the work gets stuck.

  2. We work out each fix

For every problem we decide whether the answer is a change to how people work, a connection between two systems you already have, something to buy or something to build.

  3. We put them in order

We put the changes in order of what they're worth to you, so you can start with the one that matters most.

Questions

Do we have to hire you to do what the plan recommends?

No. The plan is written so any capable team could carry it out. You can ask us to build it, hand it to your own people, or buy the product we recommend straight from the vendor.

How much of my team's time will this take?

We need short conversations with the people who use each system, a look at how those systems are set up, and the invoices or contracts that show what you pay. We fit around your working week.

What if the answer is to replace something we just paid for?

Then we'll tell you, with what it costs to switch and what it costs to stay. Sometimes the cheaper move is to keep the system and fix how it's set up or connected to everything else. Either way you see the numbers, and the decision is yours.
